Water Scarcity

Water isn’t a mere thirst quencher; it is the basis of life. Access to clean and safe water is every human’s right, but according to a joint report by WHO and UNICEF, 2.1 billion individuals still lacked access to safely managed water services in 2015. Of these, 844 million do not even have the access to basic clean drinking water; 159 million still consume untreated water directly from lakes and streams.

The WHO/UNICEF JMP Joint Press Release in July 2017 states approximately 892 million across the world continue to practice open defecation. Despite the downtrend, this is still a concern, especially in Central and Southern Asia which has been the highest area.
